"had a very disappointing experience with Karla, a State Farm agent at this office. She started an argument with my mother in Spanish instead of helping her. All required paperwork had already been returned to add someone to the account, yet Karla refused to assist and began blaming a former employee rather than taking responsibility as part of the office. Because of this lack of help, we ended up paying more during the holidays. Karla stated she would not help because it “was not her error,” even though it was clearly an office issue, not the customer’s. Her attitude toward my parents was extremely disrespectful—she repeatedly spoke over them and treated them as if they didn’t understand simply because they are Spanish speakers. She appeared comfortable speaking to my parents in a condescending and disrespectful manner, which is unacceptable. Agents should ensure customers understand their benefits, not argue with or belittle them. I later spoke with Kathy, who did apologize and recommended that we work with someone else going forward. We had not interacted with Karla before this due to a previous accident years ago, so this experience was upsetting as a customer. I hope this is not how she treats the Hispanic community overall, but based on our experience, her behavior was inappropriate and unprofessional. If you need help at this office, I recommend asking for Diane instead. I would not advise family members, especially parents, to go in alone or rely on Karla for assistance. Better training from State Farm is clearly needed."
